BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Ira S. Richards is presently working as a Professor in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health, School of Public Health, and as Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, College of Medicine at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida, USA. He received his Ph.D. (1976) from New York University, Manhattan, New York. He completed his M.S. (1972) in University of Massachusetts, Boston, and B.S. (1970) at Long Island University, New York. He is a member of various international and national organizations such as the Society of Toxicology and American Academy of Clinical Toxicology and has received several grants. He is an author of books and book chapters and has published numerous articles in international and national journals. He has participated in various professional meetings and gave presentations. He serves as an Editorial board member and reviewer of scholarly journals.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
Prof. Richards’s research background involves in petrochemical and agrochemical industries/ manufacturing and covering a wide range of classes of chemicals including pesticides, solvents, heavy metals, irritants, particulates, carcinogens, pharmaceuticals, and illicit substances. His current research on respiratory irritants and the expression of biomarkers of inflammation and oxidative stress from exposure to chemical agents.
