BIOGRAPHY:
Anthony Palmieri holds a BS and MS in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island and the Ph.D. from the University of Georgia. Currently he is an Associate Scholar of Pharmaceutics at the University of Florida. He has been an AAPS member since the founding. Prior to his present position in the Department of Pharmaceutics, he was Assistant Director of Technology Licensing at UF. Prior to that, he was at The Upjohn Company for sixteen years. Palmieri was professor of pharmacy at the University of Wyoming. He is the author of numerous scientific, academic, and historical papers. He served as the Laboratory Editor for the third edition of the Handbook of Pharmaceutical Excipients. Palmieri is very active on the national level of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity and is past national president. Palmieri is past chairman of the Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science as well as Chair of the Basic Sciences Section of APRS. He is a fellow of APhA-APRS and has authored chapters on dissolution, microencapsulation, pharmaceutical excipients and history of pharmacy. Palmieri is a recognized expert on drug delivery, suppository dissolution and intellectual property. He is currently Chair of the United States Adopted Names Council. He was the editor as well as an author of “Dissolution Theory, Methodology and Testing”.
